How do you become a Christian?
The “Roman Road” is a popular summary of what Christians believe. Taken from the New Testament book of Romans, the Roman Road outlines basic Christian beliefs about the human condition and God’s plan of redemption.
Romans 3:23
“ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”
You must admit that you are a sinner.
Romans 6:23a
“…The wages of sin is death…”
Understand that you deserve death for your sin.
Romans 6:23b
“…But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Salvation is a free gift from God to you! We can’t earn this gift, but we must accept it and not reject God’s Grace.
Romans 5:8
“ But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
When Jesus died on the cross, He paid sin’s penalty. He paid the ultimate price for all sin, and when He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us out of slavery to sin and death and gave us eternal life, but only if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Jesus’ love and sacrifice is what saves you, not religion or membership in church. God loves you! And reaches out to you where you are.
Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:9,10
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Believe in Jesus. Ask Him to come in to your heart by faith, and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. If you want to receive Christ as your personal Saviour, just ask Him in now. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart.
The following is a suggested prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I confess to you I am a sinner. I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive me for my sins and come into my life as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life and lead me. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. Amen”

Water baptism is one of the ways you first show that you have been joined to Jesus. The symbolism is this: When you go down in the water you show that you have been crucified and buried with Him. When you come up out of the water, you show that you have been raised to walk with Him in newness of life. (See Romans chapter 6)
